Structures (Floating & Fixed) :: Floating Ferry Terminal

The purpose of the survey was to collect bathymetric data under a floating ferry terminal, the floats closest to the shore may be grounding at low water.

The survey area was approximately 90 metres by 80 metres wide. The purpose of the survey was to:

  • Collect soundings underneath the main floats.
  • Prepare elevations to chart datum.
  • Calculate the clearance under the floats.
  • Prepare cross-sections of the sea bottom beneath the floats.
  • Tie the survey in to known positions and elevations.

The survey produced data under the dock and 6 metres out on each side. A profiling sonar and direct measurements were used, along with a suite of computer programs
