The AQC PS System comprises the following modules:
- Sonar head - single rotating pencil beam, long range or short range heads
- Motion reference sensor - gyro stabilized, azimuth and inclination data at 30Hz
- Deployment hardware - includes machined brackets and indexing tables
- Positioning system - sub metre DGPS, cm RTK GPS
- Data logger - pressure, temperature sensor
- Data gathering software - proprietary data gathering includes latency calibration
- Quality Assurance protocols - written protocols for calibration & field data collecting
- Post Processing Software - proprietary software to geo reference collected data
- Quality Control protocols - protocols in the software for processing collected data
- Timing latencies in sonar data, position and attitude are calibrated in situ.
- Each profile is manually examined for noise, system artifacts, and some false targets in the environment, and wild points are rejected.
- Timing correctors are utilized for hardware and environmental time delays.
- The mean water level is calculated.
- Processing is conducted in a flexible framework that provides interactive data displays and adaptability through efficient operator involvement.
- Quality control is augmented by redundancy in a number of areas such as overlapping depth ranges and overlapping scan edges between swaths. A spatial data editing and three dimensional visualization program is used as a final check for wild depths in geographic context.
